Ival Naomi Hemmingsen was born September 9, 1923, in Granite Rock Township, Redwood County, MN, the daughter of Earl and Minnie (Raduenz) Hanske. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Ival graduated from Wabasso High School and Lamberton L.T.T.D.. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Elmo Hemmingsen on June 30, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan. They farmed in Sundown Township and following Kenneth's death in January, 2000, Ival continued to live on the farm an additional 5 years for a total of 62 years. Ival was a homemaker, an active member of Sundown Lutheran Church and the WELCA, and actively participated in mission work. She knitted and crocheted 100's of caps, scarves and mittens for the Marie Sandvik Center and other missions. Ival enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, camping, snowmobiling and other people things. Ival Hemmingsen died peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 82 years. Survivors include her children- Naomi and husband Loren Elliott of Springbrook, WI, Marilyn Bratsch of Rogers, MN, Richard and wife Leslie Hemmingsen of Shoreview, MN, Kenneth Jr. and wife Pat of Springfield, Fae and husband Albert Jones of Andover, MN; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and sister- Cynthia and husband John Erickson of Apache Junction, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband
