Iva Mae Bauman was born on October 30, 1918, at Sibley, IA to Carl and Ida Mae (Nachtigal) Bauman. Iva grew up in various towns in Southwest Minnesota and Northwest Iowa. When she was 11 years old her father died from a ruptured appendix. Her mother then married Dick Greven, and Iva went to live with her Aunt Margurite and Uncle Harm in Chicago, IL. Iva received her education at a country school and she attended high school in Skokie, IL. She spent her teen years traveling from the big city back to the Adrian Area to visit her family. She met Raymond Russell Lawrence when she was 15 and was united in marriage to him on June 10, 1936, in Ruthton, MN. They enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and each other's company. Iva saw many changes in her life, horse and buggies when she was born to traveling on trains and flying in planes. She spent much of her life moving from one end of the country to the other. Ray and Iva had many adventures during their married life and owned two cafes', Ray Iva's Cafe in Adrian and the Inn Cafe in Worthington, MN. They also lived and worked in Luverne, Lake Wilson, Reading, Beverly Hills, CA and Clewiston, FL. Raymond died on December 18, 1988, after 52 years of marriage. On November 7, 1991, Iva married John Janzen. Iva and John made their home in Mountain Lake, MN. On June 26, 2003, Iva entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, and this is where she died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005. Iva is survived by her husband, John Janzen of Mountain Lake, MN; 2 daughters, Beverly June (Ben) Taylor Middleton of Iola, KS, and Raedelle Jeane (Scott) Lawrence-Wallace of Kennewick, WA; a son Ronald James (Karen) Lawrence of Adrian, MN; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 3 step children, Jack (Margaret) Janzen, Deborah (Terry) Shoptaugh and Jerry (Robin) Janzen; a sister, Eva Faye Mishler of Las Vegas, NV, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Lawrence; and a grandson, David Lawrence Wallace.
