Isabel Huiras

Isabel Mary Huiras was born on June 18th, 1922 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, MN the daughter of Edwin Mary (Ludewig) Berberich. She grew up and attended country school near Leavenworth. Isabel married Everett Huiras on September 30th, 1941 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. They farmed and raised a family of eleven children. Isabel Everett celebrated 65 years of marriage last year. She was a member of the Japanese Martyrs Church, the CCW, Christian Mothers, Catholic Aid Association and a Ladies Card Club. Isabel enjoyed quilting, gardening, playing cards, golfing, visiting with family and friends and her grandchildren. Isabel M. Huiras, 84, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Friday, May 25, 2007 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Surviviors include her husband Everett of Sleepy Eye, children, Marie Christensen of New Ulm, Lois (Larry) Stoll of New Ulm, Alice (Joseph) Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye, Jerry (Judy) Huiras of Morgan, Patrick (Martha) Huiras of Oakdale, MN, Randall (Wendy) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, Gail Haas of Rota, Spain, Jane (John) Axton of Charlotte, NC and Greg (Sue) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, 28 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Edwin (Doris) Huiras, sisters-in-law, Jen Berberich, Wendelin Braun, MaryAlice Berberich and Elvera Berberich. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sons, Leonard Linus, brothers, Harold, Leo Linus and sisters, Delrose, Alice and Dorraine.
