Irwin Haynes

December 4, 1923 — May 11, 2012

Irwin LeRoy Haynes was born on December 4, 1923, the son of C.M. and Bertha (Perkins) Haynes. He graduated from Madelia Public High School in 1941. Irwin spent 1 year at National School in Los Angeles, CA for automotive and diesel repair. He completed the course with perfect attendance and perfect grades. He was enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 13, 1944 and was honorably discharged on July 8, 1946. He was united in marriage to Gladys Berndt on March 18, 1951 at the St. James Presbyterian Church. He was active in his community and was a 25 year member of the St. James Fire Department. Irwin died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 88 years. He is survived by his children - Alyce and husband Robert Collins of St. James and Myron and wife Kathy Haynes of Oakdale, MN; 2 grandchildren - Scott and Dawn and her husband Jeremy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - Gladys in March of 2009; daughter - Diane Haynes Malmgren in 1992; brothers- Jean and his wife Nina Haynes and Franklin and his wife Lorraine Haynes; and a sister - M.
