Iris Glee Schafer, of Springfield, Minnesota, daughter of Albert & Dora Schwarzenbach, born January 5, 1931, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2022, surrounded by family. She is survived by her five children, Alan (Julie) Schafer, Pamela (Ken) Norcutt, Tom (Pam) Schafer, Tim (Barb) Schafer and Debra (Bill) Trevick; grandchildren - Jennifer (Schafer) Pearson, Jeff Schafer, Jody (Schafer) Sobczak, Corey Norcutt, Deborah Rice, Adam Schafer, Nick Schafer, Andrew Schafer, Chris Schafer, Jessica (Schafer) Koshiol, Eric Schafer, Scott Bauer, Brittany Trevick, and Ashley Trevick; great grandchildren - Cole Pearson, Alexander Pearson, Casey Pearson, Nevin Schafer, Charlie Schafer, Caden Sobczak, Lincoln Sobczak, Sage Sobczak, Mackenzie Norcutt, Briar Norcutt, Elaina Rice, Jack Rice, Knox Koshiol, Zoey Koshiol, Wolfgang Schafer, Aster Schafer, Sidney Schafer, Averie Schafer, Jada Schafer, Kaylie Schafer, Rylie Schafer, Quinlyn Schafer, Hayes Schafer. Also survived by sister Karen Kropp and brother William Schwarzenbach. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Aaron Schafer and Ryan Norcutt. Iris was born in Lake Park, Iowa, and graduated high school at Hartley, Iowa, in 1949. She attended the American School of Business in Des Moines Iowa, 1949-1950. She married Paul Schafer on August 26, 1950, and together they had five children. He preceded her in death on June 2nd, 2011. Iris had many interests in life, including gardening, golf, bridge, bingo, and most importantly, being with family and friends. Iris was known for her wonderful sense of humor and beloved for her kindness to all. Her chocolate chip cookies and potato salad were second to none and her birthday messages made everyone laugh. She was an active golfer and belonged to FGHC in Sanborn, Minnesota, for many years. She was also an avid and excellent bridge player who loved the game. For the last 20+ years she resided at Cottonwood Apartments in Springfield, Minnesota, where she was known for her contagious personality, her welcoming ways and her wonderful holiday and seasonal decorations. She loved her family and her friends deeply and was fortunate to keep in touch with them all through social media and texts. She will be dearly missed.
