Irene Alice Malmanger

Irene Alice (Dyslin) Malmanger was born on January 4, 1920 in Fairmont, MN, the daughter of Roy Dyslin and Mamie Rybakoski. She attended schools in Fairmont and upon graduation in 1938, accepted a secretarial job at the courthouse in Fairmont. Later, she worked for AAA and then as a cash accountant at The Fairmont Railway Motors during World War II. When Earl Malmanger came home from 2 years spent in Alaska during WWII, the couple was married. They lived in Columbus, GA for two years. While Earl was at Fort Benning, GA, Irene worked at a bank in Columbus. After the war was over, they returned to Minnesota and farmed in Truman and then bought a farm southeast of Madelia. When poor health made farming impossible for Earl, they sold the farm and moved to Madelia in 1976. Mr. Malmanger passed away in 1991. Irene was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. Irene Alice (Dyslin) Malmanger age 96, of Madelia, MN died on September 18, 2016, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Irene is survived by 2 children, Barbara Bielenberg of Sloan, IA, Mark (Barbara) Malmanger of Swanville, MN; daughter-in-law, Patricia Malmanger of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren, Ole Malmanger of Manitowoc, WI, Greta (Dan) Scherbert of Milwaukee, WI, Jason (Catherine) Malmanger of St. Cloud, MN, Adam Malmanger of Two Harbors, MN, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Byrl Malmanger; son-in-law, Martin Bielenberg; 5 brothers, Lyle, LeRoy, Robert, Richard and Wilbur Dyslin, and sister, Mary Bursell.
