Irene Ewert

Irene Marquerite Ewert, the daughter of the late John and Ida Fredrickson, was born on June 14, 1924 in Lamberton, Minnesota. Irene married William Wendt on Feburary 24, 1944. They farmed near Lamberton for 22 years and purchased a farm near Comfrey in 1966. Bill died on January 1, 1967. Irene and Bill had a daughter Kathleen Louise and a son, Rodney William. Irene married Robert Ewert on June 14, 1969 and they built and operated the Lamberton Feeder Pig Market in Lamberton for 32 years, retiring in Redwood Falls in 2001. After retiring, Irene worked at the Redwood Falls Wal-Mart for 12 years and enjoyed her job as a people greeter. Irene loved music and played the organ in her home and for church services. Music was always an important part of her life. Irene will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and she enjoyed making people smile. She had a gift for writing, her humor was displayed in her poems and stories. Irene loved nature and gardening and always had loving pets to share her home. Her kitties Twinky and Snowby and the family dog Blackie were a great comfort to her during her long illness. Irene Marguarite (Fredrickson) Ewert, 82, of Redwood Falls, MN and formerly of Lamberton died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at her home in Redwood Falls, MN. Irene is survived by her loving husband, Bob Ewert, her daughter Kathleen Wendt of Ketchikan, Alaska, her son Rodney Wendt and wife Vickie of Comfrey and her grandson Javon Wendt of Hopkins. She has one living brother George Fredrickson and wife Jean of Lincoln Nebraska. Also surviving Irene are many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida (Brog) Fredrickson, her husband William Wendt, her brothers Arthur and James Fredrickson and her sister Josephine Varpness and Josephine's husbands Wilbur Wendt and Kenneth Varpness.
