Irene Elg

Irene Caroline Elg was born December 22, 1928 in Lamberton, MN to George and Emma (Carsten) Kruse. She attended District #38 in Lamberton through the 8th grade, attended Comfrey School for 2 years, and graduated from Windom High School in 1947. Irene worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Elwood Elg on October 12, 1948 in Windom. She worked for The Comfrey Times for 15 years as a typist/proofreader. Irene was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur, and a member of the Darfur American Legion Auxiliary, and later the Windom American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, decorating for the seasons and holidays, NASCAR, and putting puzzles together. Irene especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by husband Elwood of Windom; children- Kevin and wife Dawn Elg of Mankato, Myron and wife Connie Elg of Dickens, IA, and Virginia and husband Darwin Thiessen of Darfur; grandchildren- Trevor (Danielle) Elg, Melissa Elg, Cassandra (Rob) MacCarty, Jessica Elg, Anthony Thiessen, and Bridget Thiessen; great-granddaughter Zoey Elg; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Lorraine Elg.
