Inez Mertz

Inez Madeline Mertz was born September 4, 1916, in Sleepy Eye, MN the daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Seikora) Mertz. She attended country school and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Inez was a graduate of Mankato State University and taught in the Sleepy Eye area her entire life. She retired in 1984 and moved to Eden Prairie in 1987. Inez was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Lady Foresters. She also had served as chairman of Brown County DFL, was a 4-H leader for many years, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Inez enjoyed reading, watching TV, politics, and being with children. Inez Madeline Mertz died Friday, October 17, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Bloomington at the age of 92 years. She is survived by sisters- Mary Jane Baechler of Edina, Dolores Regimbal of Eden Prairie, and Nicholine Mertz of Rochester; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Nicholas in 1982.
