Ines Etta Lochner was born on November 11, 1914 in Home Township, Brown County, MN the daughter of Louis and May (Tuttle) Strate. She grew up and attended District 13 country school in Home Township. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School and attended Teacher's Training. Ines taught school three years in District 43. She married Elmer Lochner on October 15, 1936 in Sleepy Eye. The couple lived and farmed in Home Township all their lives until retiring and moving to Sleepy Eye in 1969. Ines served as clerk of School District 13 for several years. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. Ines was a Sunday School teacher, member of the hospital auxiliary, Extension group and an active member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins. Ines Lochner, age 96, of Sleepy Eye, MN, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Countryside Apartments. Ines is survived by her sons Willis and wife JoAnn of Sleepy Eye, Donald and wife Peggy of Zumbrota, MN, daughters Louise and husband James Paulson of St. James, MN, Lucille Mikrut of Forsyth, MO, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Lochner in 1995, grandson Timm Lochner in 1992, brothers Woodrow and Raymond Strate and sister Evelyn Strate.
