Ileane Ruth Voth

Ileane Ruth Voth, age 93, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Mayo Health System in St. James, MN.


Visitation will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Mandy France.  Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.  Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, MN.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.


Ileane Ruth Ewert was born on November 22, 1929, in Mountain Lake, MN, daughter of David and Alvena Ewert. She was four when her family moved to St. James, where she went to grade school and high school. In 1948, Ileane married Harvey Voth of Butterfield. They lived in Butterfield for one year before moving to St. James where they had their three sons, Stephen, Randall, and Bryan. Ileane worked for the Watonwan County Library for four years and then went on to work for Dr. William Gosche for twenty years. Harvey and Ileane also spent several years working together at Echols Ag Service.


Ileane was active in her church, Augustana Lutheran, where she sang in the choir and with the Miriam Singers. She taught Sunday School, was President of WELCA, worked on the funeral committee, and served on the church council. Her faith and church was very important to her. Ileane also loved her family deeply. Being a grandmother was her greatest love, and she was devoted to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.


Ileane is survived by her three sons, Stephen (Ursula) Voth, Randall (Gloria) Voth, and Bryan (Stephanie) Voth;  grandchildren, Amy Reed, Kristian Voth, Michelle Voth, Jamis Voth, Raya Shibilski, Corey Voth-Hogan, and Erin Avery; great-grandchildren Anthony Reed, Lauren Allen, Whitney Beck, Mikaela Lyons, Della Shibilski, Konnor Voth, Bryson Hogan, Tenley Hogan, Merrick Harvey Avery, Elliot Avery, and Vayda Ruth Hogan; great-great-grandchildren, Trinity, Lael, Remington, Sawyer, Sophia, Urijah, Aleigha, Clayton, Vance, Tatum, Creed, Kinsley and Nolyn; brother-in-law, Richard Lepp; sister-in-law, Marguerite Johnson; brother-in-law, Ronald Voth; special friends, The Kunkels -  Stan & Nancy and Kyla & Kaitlyn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Voth; parents, David and Alvena Ewert; parents-in-law, Isaac Voth and Minnie Foster; sisters, Kathleen Fjermestad and Jean Lepp; brother and sister-in-law, James “Spike” and Lois Ewert; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson; sister-in-law, Averil Voth; and granddaughter, Amber Nichole Voth, infant daughter of Randy and Gloria.


The family gives their thanks for the care and love she was shown over the eight years at Good Samaritan-Brandt Ridge Assisted Living, in particular Michelle Mohlenbrock and all of the staff that made each of her days there so special.
