Ida Anderson

Ida Lillian Anderson was born January 19, 1909, in Burnstown Township, Brown County, the daughter of Clarence and Maren (Sorum) Moe. Following the death of her parents, she helped her brothers on the farm with all of the daily activities. On September 26, 1939, Ida was united in marriage to Gustav 'Gust' Anderson and the couple made their home on a farm. Following Gust's death, Ida was a homemaker and caretaker at St. John's Lutheran Church, and later worked at the Springfield school cafeteria as a cook. She then worked at the Springfield Community Hospital as a cook until retirement. Ida was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School, and served on the ALCW in many offices. She was a former member of the WMF, the Eastern Star, and the St. John's Lutheran Home and Springfield Hospital Auxiliaries. Ida enjoyed farming, horses, and spending time with her family. Ida Lillian Anderson died Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 97 years. Survivors include daughters- Lillian and husband Ingvar Sjong of Seattle, WA, Inez and husband Bernard Wendland of Springfield, and June Anderson of Burnsville; grandchildren- Dr. Casandra Anderson and husband Joe Alley of Richfield, and Darick Anderson of New Ulm; step grandchildren- Connie Bouley of Maple Plain, MN, Scott and wife Teresa Wendland of Hamel, MN, and Craig and wife Danyell Wendland of Foreston, MN; step great-grandchilden- Sarah and Allison Wendland; brothers- Norman and wife Gen Moe of Springfield, Roy and wife Margaret Moe of Springfield, and George Moe of Springfield; brother-in-law- Duane Swensen of LeSueur; and sister-in-law- Evelyn Walters of Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents- Clarence and Maren; husband- Gustav 'Gust'; daughter- Glenna in infancy; and brothers- Arthur and wife Grace Moe, Clarence and wife Hertha Moe, and Louis Moe.
