The family is designating memorials to Gideons International and Awana. Hilda Margaret Goering, the daughter of Joe D.C. Goering and Mathilda Zerger Goering was born February 1, 1913, in McPherson County, KS. She received her education at Elyria elementary school and McPherson High School. She was baptized upon confession of her faith June 12, 1927 at Eden Mennonite Church, rural Moundridge, KS. On November 12, 1931, Hilda was united in marriage to Edwin J.B. Stucky in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Frieda and Peter Goering at the Eden Mennonite Church. Ed and Hilda farmed in the Moundridge and McPerson areas until Ed's retirement as State of Kansas Weight Officer when they moved to Mountain Lake, MN. Ed passed away on Decmeber 26, 1980 and Hilda moved to Moundridge in 1985, returning to Mountain Lake Good Samaritan Village in 2002. Hilda loved the Lord's work, especially teaching children and had as a life verse When I enter that beautiful city and the children all around me appear. I want to hear some ofthem tell me 'It was you who invited me here.' She completed many Moody Bible correspondence courses, took teacher training and taught Bible teachers. She was a cook at Central College in McPherson, at Mountain Lake Christian School and baked pies for the Mountain Lake Pizza Ranch. Her husband was a Gideon and she belonged to the Gideon Auxiliary until her death. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, hosting friends in her home and playing games with family and friends. Hilda died at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake on Tuesday afternoon, September 23, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Hilda is survived by her daughter, Margaret and husband Willard Dick of Mountain Lake; two grandchildren, Carl and wife Sonya of Brookfield, IL, and Marie Dick of Bloomington, MN; two step-great granddaughters, Caitlin and Kara; a sister, Marie and husband Homer Wedel of Moundridge; two sisters-in-law, Ada Goering of Neodesha, KS, and Elaine and husband Art Krehbiel of Moundridge; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Frieda Goering and Edna Kaufman; and five brothers, Victor, Milton, Alvin, Raymond and Joe Jr.
