Hertha Prechel

Hertha Helene Prechel was born March 10, 1918, in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Schmidt) Renner. Hertha was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1948 to Elmer G. Prechel in Iowa. She loved to care for her family and to visit with all who stopped at her home. She could exchange conversation with all ages and always kept her sense of humor. Hertha had a passion for crossword puzzles, coffee time, and baking. Hertha Helene Prechel died March 21, 2005, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 87 years. Survivors include her children- Helene Schmidt of Springfield, Robert and wife Monica Prechel of New Ulm, Roger and wife Julie Prechel of Springfield, Orin Prechel of Springfield and his life partner Nancy Blue of Morton; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister- Dorothy Geschwind of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law- Udo Viergutz of Plymouth; sister-in-law- Bea Renner of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer in 1970; brothers- George, Arnold and Harold Renner; and sisters- Mildred Todd, Helene Viergutz and Lucille in infancy.
