Hertha Moe

July 25, 1913 — October 20, 2005

Hertha Moe was born July 25, 1913, in Klossner, MN, to George and Mamie (Klossner) Penkert. After completing high school, Hertha became a teacher and worked at the District 48 school near Springfield. After meeting the man of her dreams, Clarence, they married June 1, 1935 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. They were blessed with two children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Hertha was very active in area study groups, church circles and continued to take classes to continue her education. Hertha and Clarence loved to travel, and did so quite extensively throughout the United States and Western Canada. Hertha also enjoyed doing crafts, reading, visiting with family and friends, listening to hymns and classical music, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. One of Hertha's favorite pastimes is playing the piano. She was a faith member of St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield. Hertha Moe died Thursday, October 20, 2005, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 92 years. She is survived by son- Charles and wife Kathryn Moe of Springfield; daughter- Kathryn and husband Stephen Bloom of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren- Barbara Moe, Kenneth and wife Kayla Moe, Nathan Bloom, and Maren Bloom; great grandchildren- Kristopher, Alex and Jessica Moe; sisters- Pearl Heymann of Rochester and Mildred Gieseke of New Ulm; sisters-in-law- Charlotte Penkert of New Ulm and Ida Anderson of Springfield; and brothers-in-law- George Moe of Springfield, Norman and wife Gen Moe of Springfield, and Roy and wife Margaret Moe Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence in 2000; brothers- Wilbert and Elder in infancy; and sister- Helen Liebl.
