Hertha Delphine Del Berg, 79, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN Hertha Delphine Del Berg was born November 23, 1928 to Gustav and Clara (Brudelie) Bjornberg in Hanska, MN. She graduated from Hanska High School in 1946 and married Robert Bob H. Berg at Zion Luthern Church on June 12, 1949. Del worked at Meyer's Market, Ouren's Shoe Store, Brown County Farm Bureau Employment Office at Del Monte and worked as a waitress at the Orchid Inn, and as a secretary for Don Stimpert. Del was very active in bowling for many years. She served as secretary for the Ladies Classics League, Koffee Kup League, President of the Lucky Ladies League. She was also City Association secretary for a number of years, was elected to the Sleepy Eye Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in 1981 and named Bowler of the Year once and Bowler of the Month twice. Del was appointed to the Minnesota Women's Bowling Association as a Director in 1971 and served in that capacity until January of 1988. Her last position was as Awards Chairman for the M. W. B. L. She was inducted to the Minnesota Women's Bowling Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 2003. Del was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the American Legion Post #7 and also a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post # 800. Del enjoyed having coffee with friends, reading paper back mystery books and visiting friends and neighbors. She enjoyed people and was friendly with everyone. She had a great love of cats especially the two that were born in the shed on the west side of her home and decided to live with her. The were two ordinary tiger striped kittens named Squeeker and Sweetie Pie, they were good company for her. Del is survived by nieces and nephews Helen Gronholz, Roger (Peg) Pederson, MaryJane (Bert) Williams and Carol Bjorneberg, Special friends, Jerry and Linda Schueler, many cousins, great nieces and nephews, many friends and members of Trinity Luthern Church. Del was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob on August 15, 1999, brothers, Arlo, Glendar, Gilmore, a stillborn brother, sister, Hazel Pederson, two nephews Claire Brudelie, Richard Bjorneberg, and Godson and great nephew Brian Gronholz.
