Herman Vanderwerf

Herman Vanderwerf was born August 18, 1916, in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, the son of Peter W. and Anna (Hayenga) Vanderwerf. Herman was raised on a farm and worked on a farm for many years. He then worked for Sanborn Manufacturing Company for 20 years. Herman was a lifetime member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and a former member of the Springfield Senior Citizens. Herman enjoyed walking, watching TV, and visiting with friends. Herman Vanderwerf died Thursday, September 14, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 90 years. Survivors include brothers- Sam of Springfield, and George of Prior Lake; and sisters- Jennie Schleusner of Olivia, Tina Rathman of Olivia, Carrie Oxford of Santa Anna, CA, and Elizabeth Jutz of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Peter, Claus, John, William, and Richard; and sister- Annie Iverson.
