Herman Sellner

May 14, 1934 — December 10, 2008

There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6pm, Sunday at the funeral home. Herman J. Sellner, Jr. was born on May 14, 1934 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Herman Jennie D. (Evers) Sellner. He graduated from St. Mary's in 1953 and was very active in athletics during high school where he earned 12 varsity letters in 4 different sports. He was inducted into St. Mary's School Hall of Fame in 2006. Herman married Jane Christensen at St. Mary's Catholic Church on November 26, 1955 in Sleepy Eye, MN. Herm worked at Stark Co-op Creamery as a butter maker and chief engineer before going to Del Monte where he spent twenty years before his retirement. After retiring Herm also worked at the Dyckman Library as a custodian. Community involvement was very important to Herm as he spent 28 1/2 years as a volunteer fireman, a charter member of the Sleepy Eye Jaycees and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Herm also enjoyed playing softball and bowling, playing cards and all sports. Herman is survived by his wife, Jane of Sleepy Eye, children; Joey (Michelle) Sellner of New Ulm, Daniel (Lacinda) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Janelle (Randy) Aspelund of Sleepy Eye, 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 6 step great-grandchildren and sister, Frances (Edward) Bertsch of Brooten, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Danielle.
