Herbert Henry Traub was born on July, 19, 1923, in Bowdle, SD, the son of Rev. Friedrich E. and Lotto A. (Jaus) Traub. Herb graduated from Wood Lake High School in 1941. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1944 until his discharge in 1946. Herb graduated from the Chicago School of Watchmaking in 1949. He did his apprentice work at Jack Schermerhorn Jewelry in St. Peter, MN, before moving to St. James and working at DeYoung's Jewelry in 1950. Herb married Beverly Rudy on June 8, 1952, at Rock Dell Lutheran Church in Belview, MN. Herb purchased the jewelry store in 1957, changing the name to Traub's Jewelry, which he operated until 1990. He did repair work after retiring until 2006. Herb was a member of the St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Rotary, VFW, Legion, Watchmakers Assoc. and St. James Industrial Development. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. He is survived by his children, Beth (Warren) Shoen of Plymouth, MN, and Jodi (Kristofer) Jensen, of Sioux Falls, SD, 6 grandchildren, Jill and Jack Shoen, Jordan, Brayden, Dylan and Landon Traub-Jensen, sister-in-law, Annette Traub of Milwaukee, WI, sister-in-law Jean Kremin of Redwood Falls, MN, and brother-in-law Bruce (Karen) Rudy of Alexandria, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly, siblings Eloise Oberg, Robert Traub, and Dorothy Olson Franke.
