Henry E. Rempel, the son of Jacob A. and Eva (Sawatzky) Rempel was born on August 19, 1915, at Jansen, NE. He received his education at Jansen, and he was baptized upon confesson of his Christian faith at Jansen. Henry moved to Minnesota, where he met Mabel Hooge. Henry and Mabel were united in marriage on February 28, 1940, at the Mennonite Brethren Church (now Community Bible Church ) in Mountain Lake. They made their home and farmed together in the Delft and Mountain Lake area before moving to their farm home in Carson Township, northwest of Mountain Lake in 1949. They remained on this farm until retiring in Mountain Lake in 1978. Mabel died on December 3, 2007. Henry enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. He was active in the Carson Mennonite Brethren Church in Delft, where he served as a long-time usher, sang in the Male Chorus, and served several terms as a Trustee. Henry was a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, where he died on Friday, March 28, 2008, at the age of 92 years. Henry is survived by his four children, Stanley Rempel and his wife Judy of Mountain Lake, MN, Merrill Rempel and his wife Minna of Olatha, KS, Calvin Rempel and his wife Jennifer of Mountain Lake, and LaVerda Knott and her husband Kirk of Maple Grove, MN; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Harry Rempel and his wife Edna of Mountain Lake; four sisters, Frieda Ewert of Mountain Lake, Helen Toews of Hillsboro, KS, Viola Harper and her husband Ralph of Lincoln, NE, and Marcella Skinner and her husband John of Casper, WY; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel Rempel; four brothers, Frank, Abe, Andrew and Albert; and two sisters, Alma Wiens and Margaret Harder.
