Helena F. Tomasovic died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Home where she had been a resident since August 18, 2008. The family will hold a Memorial Service for friends and relatives at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the St John Lutheran Home Chapel with Father Dennis Labat officiating. Visitation is one hour before the services. Helena was born on November 28, 1924 in Smolenice, Slovakia, the daughter of Michal and Emerencia (Partelova) Hlavaty. She was united in marriage to Jozef Tomasovic on May 24, 1943 in Smolenice. Helena came to the United States with her daughter's family in December of 1969. Helena worked as a chef at Old Prague restaurant in Milwaukee, WI until her retirement. She came to Sleepy Eye in 2001. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting and walking. She also loved the outdoors. Helena is survived by her daughter Eva (Richard Dick) Thoms of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren: Elizabeth (Joseph) Deabreu, Jozef Tomasvic, Andrej (Shannon) Steskal, Michael (Jennifer) Steskal, John (Cynthia) Steskal, Scott (Laura) Thoms, and Steve (Beth) Thoms, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jozef, son Jozef F., and all of her brothers and sisters.
