Helen Wright

Helen Wright, age 98 of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Prairie Senior Cottage in New Ulm. Helen Wilhelmina Wright was born on December 5, 1909 in Home Township, MN, the daughter of Frank Wilhelmina Minnie (Miller) Romberg. She graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School and attended Minneapolis Business College. Helen married David James Wright on November 28, 1944 in Chicago, IL. She worked at State Bank of Sleepy Eye for 30 years and then worked as a secretary at Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, WI. Helen was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and member of Walther League, Senior Citizens Group and was on the pioneer committe for Ross Park. She was Brown County Outstanding Senior Citizen in 1996 and Sleepy Eye Care Center Volunteer of the Year in 1995. Helen was active in her church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading, flowers and traveling around the world. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Marj Christensen of Sleepy Eye, grandsons, Scott (Laurie) Christensen, Mike (Shari) Christensen, great-grandchildren, Savanna, Hunter, and Harley, brothers, Willard Romberg of Sleepy Eye, Walter (Emily) Romberg of Sleepy Eye and sister, Alma Romberg of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David, brother, Herbert, sister, Marie, brother, Edmund and sister-in-law, Ella Romberg.
