Helen Rempel

February 17, 1918 — June 27, 2014

Helena Helen Neudorf was born February 17, 1918 to Abram and Helena (Klassen) Neudorf in Osterwick, Ukraine. She immigrated to the United States on May 7, 1949 along with her parents. Reverend and Mrs. Noah Landis of Jackson, MN and the Alpha Mennonite Church in Alpha, MN were her sponsors. On April 27, 1952 Helen was married to Peter K. Rempel in Butterfield Mennonite Church. In 1953, she became an active member of the Gospel Mennonite (now Lakeview Gospel) Church to which she contributed much. Helen worked for many years at Butterfield Produce. On February 10, 1966 she began working at Hiebert Greenhouses. Following her retirement nearly 30 years later, she continued her love of gardening, needlework, and baking for others. Helen is survived by a niece, Helena Neudorf and family of Germany, and cousins in Canada. She will be mourned by special friends; Marjorie Christianson, Paul Christianson, and Karen and Paul Leverson and family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, parents, and brothers: Abram and Peter during World War II.
