Helen Harder

Helen (Harder) Wolff Harder died peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She was born on September 2, 1918 to Peter D. and Margaretha (Sukau) Harder in Butterfield Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota. She attended school in District 53, Watonwan County, and German Bible School in Mt. Lake. She was united in marriage to Frank D. Wolff on September 25, 1940 in Mt. Lake, Minnesota where they made their home. They moved to Butterfield, Minnesota in1955. Helen was widowed at the age of 40 (1958) and was blessed to marry Jack A. Harder on February 15, 1962 to make a home with him and her three sons. Both Helen and Jack worked at Butterfield Produce and Tony Downs Foods in St. James. Helen retired in 1981. Jack was called to his heavenly home on May 26, 1994 with Helen at his side. Helen was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Lake since 1954 where she taught Sunday School and served as President of United Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and doing crafts. She crocheted The Lord's Prayer wall hanging and framed them for each of her grandchildren. Many of the family received her hand-sewn quilts and crocheted doilies. Helen was a great fan of Butterfield-Odin High School athletics and regularly attended basketball and volleyballgames. Helen also loved to cook and was well known for her special touch in making zwieback Helen is survived by three sons: Ronald Wolff (Barbara) of Forest Lake, Minnesota; Richard Wolff (Barbara) of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; and James Wolff (Marlene) of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Peter and Jacob Harder.
