Helen Hacker

December 24, 1930 — September 16, 2009

Helen Margaret Hacker was born December 24, 1930 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Gene and Helen (Brazel) Clark. She attended St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye and was united in marriage to George Hacker on February 18, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple has farmed in rural Springfield since then. Helen was a wonderful wife, beloved mother to 13 children; grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed swimming, baking, reading mystery novels, playing cards, bird watching, but most of all spending time with her family and friends. She was always an inspiration to us and will be sorely missed. Her greatest gift was her love; her greatest legacy was her faith; her most enduring quality was her wry sense of humor. She raised 13 quiet children using the phrase If you can't say something good - don't say anything at all. She is survived by her husband - George; children - Dan and wife Lynn Hacker of Sleepy Eye, MN, Mike and wife Carol Hacker of Goode, VA, Judy and husband Guy Harding of Lake Benton, MN, Gerry and wife Rhonda Hacker of Athens, AL, Nancy and husband Rick Petersen of Bouton, IA, Tim and wife Laurie Hacker of Hutchinson, MN, Peg and husband Scott Breiholz of Forest, VA, Kevin and wife Tammy Hacker of Glen Allen, VA, Brian and wife Patty Hacker of Sleepy Eye, MN, Sue and husband Mark Theobald of Roseville, MN, Paul Hacker of Rogers, MN, Scott and wife Dana Hacker of League City, TX, Chris and wife Niki Hacker of Independence, MN; 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents - Gene and Helen Clark; six brothers - Tim, Clarence, Roy, Barney, Anthony and Bob; five sisters - Fern, Hazel, Leona, Bernice and Marie; a grandson - Thomas Hacker.
