Hazel Myers

Hazel Iva Myers, age 96, of Madelia, MN died on December 27, 2014, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Hazel was born on March 18, 1918 near Lamberton, MN, the daughter of John and Bertha (Hoff) Thompson. She attended school in Westbrook before the family moved to Brainerd, MN. Hazel cleaned homes for area families and worked on the family farm prior to marriage. She was united in marriage to John "Jack" W. Myers on August 24, 1940, they moved to several states before finally settling in the Brainerd area. In 2000, Hazel moved to Madelia, moving to Luther Memorial Home in August of 2010. She was a past member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd. She enjoyed hobbies, such as quilting, embroidery and watching her favorite soap operas . Hazel is survived by her children, James (Diane) Myers of Ft. Ripley, MN, Bertha (Bernard, Sr.) Kleinschmidt of Lewisville, MN, John (Robin) Myers of Brainerd, and Robert (Sherry) Myers of Billings, MT; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Agnes Hanson of Inver Grove Heights, MN and sister-in-law, Harriet Thompson of Brainerd, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Thompson; husband, John "Jack" W. Myers, brothers, Leo, Art, Joe, Alve and Louis Thompson, and infant son, Jackie.
