Hazel Fredine

March 2, 1920 — September 8, 2006

Hazel B. Fredine was born March 2, 1920 in Stately Township, Brown County, the daughter of Perry and Cora (Maccabee) Peterson. She attended and graduated from Comfrey Public High School. On February 3, 1942 she married Lavis Fredine in New Ulm. Hazel was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Comfrey, participated in U.C.C. Woman's Fellowship; she was a Deaconess, Trustee and Clerk on the U.C.C. Church board. Hazel was a Pilgrim Fellowship leader for five years and a charter member and office holder in the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Comfrey. Hazel worked at Englekens Cafe, Lilla Electric, Bob Allan's Grocery Store and was manager of Comfrey Fairway Foods for 20 years. She enjoyed ceramics, folk art, traveling, playing cards, Scrabble, was an avid Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves fan, and most of all - visiting with her friends and family. Hazel B (Peterson) Fredine, 86, of Mountain Lake, MN, formerly of Comfrey died on Friday, September 8, 2006 at Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN. She is survived by her daughters - Kora Ann Bimberg Jeff Lodin of Bloomington and Kim Marie Moynihan her husband Steve of Minneapolis; grandchildren - Jennie Bimberg of Minneapolis, Aimee Hartwell her husband Richard of Minneapolis, Matthew Moynihan of Minneapolis, and Michael Moynihan his wife Kris of New Jersey; sisters - Ethel Lundblad of Windom and Gladys Russenberger of Sanborn; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Lavis in December of 1977; a sister - Alice Johnson; and brothers - Leslie Peterson and Fred Peterson.
