Hazel Bohm

Hazel Viola Bohm was born on March 25, 1918 to William and Lethia (Stiernagle) Voigtlander in Vivian Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant and was confirmed at Zoar Evangelical Church on August 21, 1932. Hazel was united in marriage to Arthur Bohm on June 28, 1939. God blessed their marriage with four children: Carla (Gene) Artner of Butterfield, Janice (Joshua) Clark of Henderson, NV, Mark (Peggy) Bohm of Bailey, CO, and Marsha Rettig (special friend David Hartmann) of Welcome, MN; six grandchildren, Alan (Lori) Artner, Amy (Michel) Denn, Lisa (Pat) Akina, Shannon (Dana) Sundberg, Jordan (Jacki) Bohm and Ramsay Bohm; and six great grandchildren, Jessica and Isaac Denn, Malia and Kaila Akina, and Conner and Dalton Sundberg. Hazel and Art farmed near Waldorf until they moved to Butterfield in 1951 to own and operate their own cafe for several years. Later hazel was head cook at Butterfield School for 17 years. She greatly enjoyed taking good care of all her students. Hazel enjoyed her role as homemaker, excelling in cooking and baking. She was an active member of her church and provided many floral baskets from her garden. She also enjoyed quilting, crafts, traveling and was an avid reader, and followed her favorite baseball team, the Twins. She loved playing cards and Rummikub with friends and family. Hazel greatly enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was always ready to visit her family. As her health failed, Hazel lived at Eventide Suites and later at Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. The Lord Jesus, in His love and mercy, graciously took His servant home this past Monday, September 7 at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her loving family and her brother, Willard Voigtlander of Mankato, MN; two sisters, Golda Crane of La Habra, CA, and Luella Wallace of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Arthur Bohm on December 14, 1993.
