Harvey Walter Zuhlke was born November 25, 1930 at South Branch, MN, to parents William Lena (Hoeper) Zuhlke. Harvey attended country school for a couple years before going to school in St. James. He worked for Link Anderson for a couple years before joing the National Guard and serving in the Army from 1950 to 1952. When he returned to St. James he went to work for Minnesota Valley Gas Company, he continued to work for the gas company until his retirement in 1985. Harvey was united in marriage to Veora Newman on January 11, 1957 at Sioux City, IA. Harvey served on the St. James Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, beginning his career in 1957. Harvey entered the Trimont Nursing Home on September 13, 2003 where resided until his death. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and became a avid garage sale visitor after his retirement. Harvey loved his family he especially loved playing with his grandchildren. Harvey Zuhlke, age 77, of St. James died on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the St. James Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard, sister Betty Brinkman and grandson Shawn Edwards. He is survived by his wife Veora Zuhlke of St. James, daughter Shelly (Dean) Johnson of St. James, sons Michael Edwards of Rhode Island, Lawrence (Brenda) Edwards of Mankato, grandchildren Jeremie (Camala) Johnson, Colter Johnson and fiancee Mandi, Hailey Johnson, Braidey Johnson, Travis Edwards and fiancee Teah, Lance Edwards, April Edwards and fiancee George, Leah Edwards, and Heather (Matt) Koenig, great-grandchildren Nikolas Johnson, Kiersten Johnson, Kairn Johnson, Ashton Edwards, Zander Kump, and Annebeil Edwards, nieces nephews Robert, Marilyn, Cindy, David and Lori.
