Harvey Voth

Harvey J. Voth was born in Delft, MN, on March 19, 1929, the son of Isaac Minnie (Foster) Voth. Harvey grew up in Butterfield where he graduated from high school in 1947. On September 5, 1948, Harvey was united in marriage to Ileane Ewert in St. James. The couple made their home in Butterfield for a year before moving to St. James. In 1956, Harvey took over the Standard Oil Agency which he ran until his retirement. In 1970, he bought into the elevator (Echols Ag Service) which he was active in until retiring in 1992. He continued to work during planting and harvesting season for a number of years. Harvey was also in the feed business and active in the community. He served on City Council for 16 years, school board for 9 years, St. James Volunteer Fire Dept. for 28 years and also active in church where he served on the church council and as its treasurer. Harvey enjoyed the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He loved his family and spending time with his wife traveling, raising their sons and watching them raise his grandchildren which he adored. Harvey is survived by his wife; Ileane Voth of St. James, sons; Stephen (Ursula) Voth of Rapid City, SD, Randall (Gloria) Voth of New Ulm, Bryan (Stephanie) Voth of Hartford, SD, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, sister; Marguerite Johnson of St. James, brother; Ronald (Averil) Voth of Madison Lake, sister-in-law; Jean (Richard) Lepp and brother-in-law; James Ewert, special friends Kaitlyn Schlomann (age 6), Stan and Nancy Kunkel and numerous nieces nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, In-laws; David Alvina Ewert, granddaughter; Amber Nichole, brother-in-law; Robert Johnson, sisters-in-law; Kathleen Fjermstad and Lois Ewert.
