Harvey Rannow, age 83, of Madelia, died on November 14, 2024, at Madelia Health in Madelia.


A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Madelia. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.


Harvey was born November 6, 1941, to Heinrich and Esther (Bird) Rannow in Henderson, Minnesota and attended school in the area. He met Marilyn Lafayette when they were both around 15 years old. On August 19, 1961, they married in Henderson.


In their early years, Harvey and Marilyn lived in Wells, Minnesota, working for various farmers. Later, they moved to Mapleton, Minnesota where they began their family. They found their forever home in Madelia and had six more children.


Harvey enjoyed going everywhere with Marilyn and always held her hand wherever they went. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, rolling dice with family, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.


Harvey is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Harriet (Ron) Wallschlager, Bob Rannow, Teri (Doug) Jacobs, Lisa (Doug) Firchau, Chris (Bruce) Bass, Brian (Becky) Rannow, and Troy Rannow; grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, Brandon, Brad, Monique, Cody, Jenenne, Rebecca, Ashley, Lauren, Brandi, Shane, Tyler, Cayla, Derek, Cassie, Kendra, and Brooke; many great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darwin, Virgil, Orville, Wanda, Karen, Sandra, and Barbara.


Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Heinrich, Jr., Audrey, Sonja, Tina, Janet, and Linda.
