Harvey Dale Henze was born October 18, 1942, to Carl August and Martha (Pankratz) Henze in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, the youngest of three children. Harvey graduated from Comfrey High School in 1960, joining the Army the same year. During his time in the service, Harvey spent time in Berlin, Germany during the cold war and Fort Lewis, Washington before being honorably discharged in July of 1963.
Harvey married the love of his life, Ilah Jane Flaming, on April 16, 1966, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pair later moved to Wausau, Wisconsin, and were blessed with two children, Julieann Ida in 1966 and Michael John in 1969.
Working as a truck driver, Harvey was on the road much of his career. However, he was always home on the weekends for a game of cribbage and a date with Ilah Jane. Upon retirement, Harvey spent time with family and Ilah before losing her to non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2003.
Harvey made numerous friends during his retirement, traveling the U.S. in his camper for many years. He later settled in Arizona, fulfilling his life-long dream of becoming a cowboy.
Harvey was always excited to share his pride in his family, though never to their faces. He was never far from an old western novel or a deck of cards, and he planned his weekends around the Badger and Packer games.
Harvey is survived by his daughter, Julieann Storm of San Diego, California; son, Michael (Jill) Henze of Neenah, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jessica V argus and Joshua Foster of San Diego, Erin Henze of Creston, Iowa, and Kate Henze of Neenah, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Alex and Max Vargus; brother, Donald (Elaine) Henze of Mountain Lake, Minnesota; and many loving friends. Harvey was blessed by having many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and in-laws and outlaws.
Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ilah Jane; parents, Carl and Martha Henze; and sister, Eunice (Jerry) Elder.
