Hartwin Henry Kietzer was born December 15, 1930, to Esther and Leo Kietzer of Vernon Center. He attended Willow Creek Elementary and graduated from Amboy High School. He lived on the family farm and served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1967 he and his wife Iona, along with their 3 daughters moved to Truman where they farmed for over 50 years. Hartwin and Iona spent several winters in Arizona enjoying the sunshine and making new friends. They also enjoyed summers fishing in Canada for over 20 years. Many family members made this trip with them. Hartwin enjoyed woodworking and built many custom pieces for family members as well as over 100 bean bag games who are still enjoyed by many family friends. He was a perfectionist so definitely a "measure twice, cut once" kind of guy. He was a storyteller, proud of his family and the farm they built. He is survived by his 3 daughters: Susan Hunstad (Pat McClelland) of St. James, Sandy (Neil) Kettner of Lewisville, Mary (Gregg) Backstrom of Maple Grove, 7 grandchildren: Melissa (David) Etter, Preston (Laura) Roloff, Tyler (Chelsea) Hunstad, Tyler Kettner (Kelsey Borntrager), Levi (Amber) Kettner, Stacy (Jacob) Denman, Megan (Aaron) Simons, 13 great-grandchildren, a brother: Delphin Kietzer of Vernon Center, 3 sisters-in-law: Betty Kietzer of Menomonie, WI, Irene Engerud of Scottsdale, AZ, and Laura Greiner of Fairmont. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, in-laws, 2 brothers, a son-in-law, grandson, and others.
