Harry Lee Hanson, 76, of Butterfield, died February 21, 2026, at his home, in Butterfield.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, February 27, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Saint James and from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday at the church. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Saint James. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online Condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Harry was born September 20, 1949, to Leonard and Frances (Buswell) Hanson in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. He graduated from Butterfield-Odin High School in 1967. On May 31, 1969, he married Judy Noram in Windom. Together, they raised six children.
Harry was an active member of his community. He served on the Butterfield Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and the Butterfield First Responder and Saint James Ambulance for 20 years. He also sat on the Butterfield City Council for several years and served as the Butterfield mayor for three years.
In his free time, Harry enjoyed woodworking, tinkering on vehicles, being out and about and spending time with his grandchildren. He was especially proud of becoming an ordained minister, being able to marry and baptize several family members.
Harry is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Sondra Redvay, Steven (Erin) Hanson, Jeff (Susan) Hanson, Jill (Chuck) Ekstrom, Jason (Carissa) Hanson, and Andrew (Kurette) Hanson; grandchildren, Ricky (Mary), Steven, Josh (Kari), Kaysi, Krystal, Jenika (Bobby), Jonathan, Sabrina, Christina (Ryan), Hunter (Kari), Matthew, Haleigh, Alex (Hailey), Derek, Nevaeh, Jackson, Krew, and Addyx; great grandchildren, Payton, Aribelle, Logan, Mackenzie, Makayla, Izabella, Everleigh, Xander, Rhyder, Noah, Mila, Skylamae, Angela, and Bryant; brother, George (Brenda) Hanson; and many other relative and friends.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Hanson and his wife, Janet Hanson.
