Harriet Swanson

Harriet Lucille Swanson was born May 5, 1923, in Adrian Township, Watonwan County, the daughter of Joseph and Hattie (Warner) Johnson. She was baptized May 27, 1923 and confirmed June 28, 1936. Harriett attended School District #61. She was united in marriage to Wilbur 'Scib' Wallin on September 3, 1946, who died May 26, 1971, and later to Clifford Swanson on July 15, 1973, who died May 29, 1985. Harriet lived her life in Comfrey until 1999. She then moved to Laurel's Edge Assisted Living in Mankato. In 2003 she moved to Cottonwood Ridge Apartments in Springfield and in 2011 to Brickstone Manor in Comfrey. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church (Faith Lutheran), and American Legion Auxiliary Post #244. Harriet enjoyed singing, helping in the family business "Wallin Builder Supply", and especially enjoyed being with family and friends. Harriet Swanson died Friday, December 14, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 89 years. She is survived by son Lee and wife Linda Wallin of Comfrey; daughter Joyce and husband Wayne Flury of Buffalo; grandchildren- Brenda Haire, Paula Walker, and Jonathan Wallin; great-grandchildren- Lily and Jake Haire, and Shelby and Jason Walker; sister Ione Elg of Comfrey; sister-in-law Erma Johnson of Windom; brother-in-law Henry Engdahl of Butterfield; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; brothers- Glen, Arne, and Floyd Johnson; and sisters- Marlyn Engdahl, Velma Valine, and Ruth Lindscheid.
