Harriet Mielke

Harriet Catherine Mielke was born April 19, 1922 in Burnstown Township, the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Pirmantgen) Arndt. She attended country School District #4 and graduated from Springfield high school. On September 25, 1940 she married Kenneth Menk at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan. Harriet married Vince Mielke on July 27, 1974 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She lived in Springfield during her married years and worked at the St. John and Springfield Community Hospital as a nurse. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield and was an active member of the Mary Magdelene circle. Harriet enjoyed being with family and friends, camping, fishing, playing cards and baking. Harriet Catherine Mielke died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her son's home near Hinckley, MN at the age of 82 years. Survivors include sons - Dr. Ronald and wife JoAnn Menk of Hinckley, Robert and wife Lenore Menk of Mankato; 5 grandchildren; great grandchildren; 2 brothers - Jerome and wife Florence Arndt of Redwood Falls and Eugene and Donna Arndt of Springfield; 2 step-children and 7 step-grandchildren and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth in 1972; husband Vince in 2000; and step-son Sherman Mielke.
