Harold Longworth

Harold Charles Longworth was born on June 2, 1925 in Sleepy Eye, MN the son of Julius Leona (Honl) Longworth. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. Mary's School where he played on the football team and wrote for the school newspaper. After graduation he served in the US Army until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 9, 1951. Harold married Marie Degnan on December 30, 1950 in Santa Barbara, CA. The couple lived in California for a short time before moving to the Twin Cities area, the Mankato area and then to Sleepy Eye. Harold worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for many years and later worked at Pietrus Produce in Sleepy Eye. He was a member of the American Legion. Harold enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching sports and spending time with his family. Harold Charles Longworth, 81 ,of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Survivors include his children, Suzanne (David) Moldan of Sleepy Eye, Diane (Gary) Lambrecht of Sleepy Eye, Michael of Mankato, Thomas (Connie) of Burnsville, Charles (Barbara) of New Hope, PA, Steven of Sleepy Eye, Gary (Brenda) of New Ulm, Gerald(Lisa Hines) of Austin, MN, 13 grandchildren, sister, Donna Siegwarth of Maquoketa, IA and brother, Stanley Longworth of St. Paul. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Les Delbert, daughter Kathryn Spaulding and wife Marie.
