Harold Loewen, 80, of Butterfield, MN, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, April 13th, 2025 at Laurels Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, St. James Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, St. James.
Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, St. James, on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11:00 am.
The clergy will be Rev. David Lick. Interment will be at a later date.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, MN. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Harold John Loewen was born to John and Bertha Loewen in Mountain Lake, MN on January 10th, 1945. He attended school in Mountain Lake and was part of the graduating Class of 1963. Harold attended 1 year of college in Mankato, MN before being united in marriage to Doretta Martinson on June 27th, 1964. Together they raised three children. Harold and Doretta have been married for over 60 years. Harold worked as a machinist, bulk milk truck driver, and last as a custodian and bus driver for Butterfield-Odin Public School. Harold was dedicated to the community and served in both the Lions Club and on the Butterfield City Council. He loved to travel and enjoyed riding motorcycle along with driving around in anything with the Ford logo on it. Harold enjoyed their many pets over the years, including their current dog Penny, visiting with family and friends, and loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow and learn. His friendly demeanor and joy in telling stories will be deeply missed.
Harold is survived by his wife, Doretta Loewen; children, Troy (June) Loewen, Valerie (Brad) Ommodt, Kirby (Sara) Loewen; grandchildren, Sean Loewen, Jami Loewen, Felicia (Jake) Romsdahl, Cayden (Lydia) Ommodt, Breonna (Kory) Grey, and Hannah Loewen; great grandchildren, Brecken Loewen, Connor Loewen, Niko Loewen, Tucker Ahlbrecht, Mason Loewen, Knoxx Romsdahl, Jayger Romsdahl, Rennick Romsdahl, Niessen Romsdahl, Riggins Romsdahl, Harrison Ommodt, Hollynn Ommodt, Zeplyn Grey, Vallon Grey, Ozzy Grey, Rhodes Grey; brother, Richard (Norma) Loewen; niece, Tammy (David) Watkins, and nephew, Jason Loewen.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melroy Loewen; sister, Norma Loewen, and granddaughter, Amber Loewen
