Harold 'Hooch' Hansen

d. June 12, 2013

Harold "Hooch" Hansen, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in his home. Hooch was first and foremost, the best Dad and Father-in-law and Grandpa and Great-Grandpa a family could ever have. He was born in Sleepy Eye, where he lived his entire life. Hooch was the son of C. C. Hansen Sr. and Veronica Hansen. He lived life fully and completely and extended his love to all he met whenever and wherever he could. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the Army, Air Force and National Guard during the Korean War. Hooch was a loyal son who saw to it that his father's legacy of owning the beer business lived on through Hansen Distributing. He is grateful to the entire community who supported this business. He then moved on to sell insurance for Catholic Aid Association and successfully re-established an independent business through the ongoing support of the community and even won an award of "Top Producer Field Representative in history (1985-1995)", because of those who purchased insurance from him. He retired with much gratitude that his hard work gave him and lived out the rest of his days with the love of his life, Jeanne Hansen, whom he joins in heaven and in eternal peace. Hooch was a kind-hearted man who loved to tell a good story and Ole and Lena jokes to whomever would listen. At the end of his life, all he wanted was to spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends and spread happiness and joy with little notes and gifts scattered about. Hooch was a very loyal husband and wise and present father. He loved Jesus and the Holy Mother with all of his heart and found much comfort and solace in prayer. He entrusts his family to the Lord. His oldest daughter, Lori Hansen and her partner Kerrie Okada and granddaughter Lily Carey; his son Steve and his wife Jan and grandchildren Jordan and his wife Cassi and great grand-daughter Eloise Jo, and grandson Eric; his son Tom Hansen, wife Karen and grandchildren Rachel Schmidt and her husband Mike and great granddaughters Allison, Amanda and Sydney, and grandson Dillon and his fianc Tami Sorenson, grandson Chris and great granddaughter Kadynce, and grandson Carter; daughter Karin and her husband Mike Meriwether and grandsons Gus and Gabe; and daughter Mary Sue Hansen and her partner Lisa Leo and grandson, Marcus Leo Hansen. Hooch will always be remembered for his generous and loving spirit and the way he gave of himself to others whole-heartedly. He will be deeply missed.
