Grace Delores Petersen, age 89, formerly of St. James died on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Chehalis, WA. Grace Delores Johnson was born November 11, 1921, in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Engstrom) Johnson. Grace grew up on the family farm near Grantsburg and graduated from Grantsburg High School. She moved to St. Paul, MN, where she worked as a nanny. While living in St. Paul she met, (because of a 4-leafed clover), Donald Petersen, and they were married in St. James on June 14, 1941. They made their home in St. Paul for a time, then moved to Independence, KS, while Don was in the service. Following Don's military tour, they moved to St. James where the couple raised their family. Grace enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, crafts, and raising chickens. She and Don enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, antiquing, and lake activities. She was a charter member of Highland Park Baptist Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and the Coffee Bible group in St. James. She loved spending time with her girls, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Grace is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Gordon) Lundin of Mankato, Marilyn Anderson of Chehalis, WA, Diane Baldwin of Centralia, WA, grandchildren Debra (Robert) Carlson of Roseville, G. Randal Lundin of St. Paul, Micah Anderson of Chehalis, WA, Tanya Turpin of Centralia, WA, great-grandchildren Audrey and Chet Carlson, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and eight brothers and sisters.
