Grace Luella Knutson

Grace Luella Knutson age 97, of Saint James, Minnesota died on May 29, 2021, at her home in Saint James. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel and will continue on Thursday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Service will be held at the Alliance Missionary Church-Mt Lake, on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm. The clergy will be Glen Letellier. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 3, 1924, Grace Luella (Sevold) Knutson, the strong and faithful mother, grandmother and great grandmother of the Knutson family died May 29, 2021, in her long standing home in St. James, MN, from the ravages of a stroke suffered on January 31, 2021. Known for encouraging kindness, she embraced many people with her barrage of cards and messages. After her marriage to Russell Grant Knutson on June 6, 1943 in Balaton MN, she entered motherhood by giving birth to Dennis Duane in June of 1944. For the next several years Russell and Grace added eight more children. Never complaining through the toils, ups and downs of raising her active, engaged family, Grace maintained a secure and significant walk with Christ, which grew an attitude of gratitude. As a widow of 30 years after the death of Russell in 1991, she maintained an active lifestyle, helping and visiting neighbors energizing each one. Grace is survived by her sons, Dennis (Athele) Knutson, Dale (Nancy) Knutson, Ricky (Mary) Knutson, Alan (Janet) Knutson; daughters, Rachel Knutson, Julie (Ron) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Kimberlie Knutson; along with her 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren who have spanned the globe with work and play. She was preceded in death by husband, Russell; sons, Mark and Robert, and infant daughter, Diane.
