Gordon Thoms

Gordon was born on June 20, 1915 in Eden Valley, MN to parents, Mae (Boggs) and Edwin L. Thoms. He was united in marriage to Agnes VanVickle in 1940. Gordon retired from Del Monte Foods in 1978. On retirement he raised apples and vegetables and sold them to the public. He was a veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS West Virginia in the Navy. He was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman. He always loved his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted Dad and grandfather. Gordon was a wonderful teacher and storyteller. Always proud of his children. He always had a shirt pocket full of gum and candy ready for the grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Thoms of Sleepy Eye, six children: Beverly Robert Hardin, Richard Thoms, Barbara Thoms, Douglas Linda Thoms, Gary Deb Thoms, Debra Defiel, sister, Muriel Urness, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Russell and Harold and sisters, Charlotte and Lorraine and daughter-in-law, Patricia Thoms.
