Gordon S. Rasmussen

Gordon Selmer Rasmussen was born on October 25, 1927 on the family farm in Lincoln Township, Blue Earth County, MN, the son of Guy and Selma (Olson) Rasmussen. He attended country school, District #85 and entered the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in Japan. After his discharge he returned to the family farm and lived there until 2009. Gordon married Janette Durheim on January 8, 1953 at the Parsonage of Faith Lutheran Church. He was on the Madelia Creamery Board, Commander of the VFW where he was a life time member. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, traveling, reading, the Historical Society and antiques. Gordon also enjoy genealogy, tracing his Norwegian Ancestry back to the 16th century. He is survived by his children, Barb Helling of Maple Grove, MN, Greg (Lynn) Rasmussen of Alexandria, MN, Susan (Kevin) Hanson of Fenton, IA, Rich Rasmussen of Chanhassen, step daughter, Judy (Bill) Kuefner of St. James, MN, 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janette in 2015, sisters, Audrey Rasmussen and Edna (Vern) Thulien, uncle, Emil Olson, son-in-law Tom Helling and great-grandson, Larzen Hanson.
