Glenn Rich

Glenn Rich, age 66, of St. James, died on Monday, January 7, 2013, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Monday, January 14, 2013, at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev.'s Martin Lopahs and Matthew Natsis officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard, will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Glenn Allen Rich was born August 9, 1946, at Fairmont, MN, the son of Rollo Vera (Spencer) Rich. He was baptized in 1959 at St. John's Ev Reform church in Fairmont . Glenn grew up and attended school at Hastings, Sherburn and Fairmont. He joined the Army on August 18, 1969, served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in 1975. He served in the National Guard from 1975 until his retirement in 1990.He married Deloris Sawatzky on July 28, 1977 in Sioux Falls. He worked several part-time jobs locally after he retired. Glenn was a member of the VFW, St. James Veterans Honor Guard, McDonald's coffee group and was dedicated to his dogs Angel and Bonnie. Glenn is survived by his wife Deloris Rich of Truman, step-children, Daron Sawatzky of St. James, Nettie Sawatzky of Sioux Falls, SD, siblings, Roger Rich, Sr. of Goodspring, TN, Charlene Johnson of Fairmont, Marcia Crees of St. Paul, Ross Rich of Burnsville, Yvonne Wiegert of St. Paul, Nancy Fetters of Fairmont, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Wesley Carlson of St. James, and his tow dogs Angel and Bonnie. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Alfred Malo, brother, Marlin and sister, Marylan.
