Glenn Leo Mangen was born at Sleepy Eye Hospital on October 7, 1952 the son of Bernard and Sylvia (Augustin). He spent his life in Minnesota, most of it residing on his farm in Home Township. Glenn graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1970. He also spent time at Fort Polk (LA) and Fort Sill (OK) as part of his service with the Minnesota National Guard from 1971-1977. In the 1980's Glenn began building farm machinery as well as custom built motorcycles. For several years, Glenn competed in the National Hot Rod Racing Association, winning the national championship in the pro-stock motorcycle category in the mid-80's. His bikes were featured in several motorcycle magazines. Despite his declining health in recent years, Glenn continued to live on the farm. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Glenn is survived by his daughters Hannah Mangen of Minneapolis and Harley Braun of Sleepy Eye; siblings Joan Robertson of Inver Grove Heights, Joe (Mary) Mangen of Sleepy Eye, Silvia (David) Ball of Butte, MT, Alice (David) Engelhardt of Roseville, Dennis (Chris) Mangen of Fairfax, Neil (Rose) Mangen of Sleepy Eye, Doreen Mangen of Roseville, Lyle (Melissa) Mangen of Willmar and many nieces and nephews.
