Glen Lloyd Kuebler, Sr. was born December 9, 1935 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County to George and Mathilda (Hoffmann) Kuebler. He was united in marriage to Darlene Jensen on March 1, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Glen started out in business by working for the Sleepy Eye Creamery. He then had his own sod-laying business. In 1961, he started the Sleepy Eye Salvage Company. Along with the salvage business, he especially excelled at buying and selling building materials, carpets, and appliances for years. In the mid-80's, Glen and Darlene opened up the Sleepy Eye Surplus Store, and he continued to run that store for a decade, until closing it to retire in 1995 to spend more time at his cabin on Lake Mille Lacs. Glen loved to hunt and fish, especially moose hunting and catfishing. He also loved telling stories about it! Glen participated in demo derbies, had annual turtle fries, and enjoyed being in parades with his many specialty and antique vehicles. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as a former Grand Knight, started the annual KC auction 46 years ago, and was very instrumental in the design and construction of Divine Providence Community Home.
