Glen Berndt, age 91, of St. James, died on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Memorial services will be 11:30am, Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with Father Timothy Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. James with military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 9:30am. Glenroy William Berndt, son of Herbert and Clara Berndt, was born November 15, 1929 in Canby, Minnesota. Glenroy was baptized and confirmed in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He received his education at a country school in Yellow Medicine County and Watonwan County, Minnesota. He moved with his parents to Darfur, Minnesota in 1939. In 1951 he was drafted into the army, serving two years of duty in Germany. He married Connie Smith on August 1st 1955, at St. James, Minnesota. He worked in Butterfield Foods, Bosshart Construction in Fairmont, Minnesota, Newman Motors in St. James, Minnesota, Tony Downs Foods at St. James, Minnesota. He retired in 1995. He loved to fish, hunt, play cards, gardening and spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1914. He is Survived by his wife Connie Berndt of St. James, his Children; two sons - Ricky (Cora) Berndt, Everett, Washington, Kelly (Wendy) Berndt, Deadwood, South Dakota, daughters - Tammy (Larry) Edgerton, Little Falls, Minnesota, Nichole (Brian) Ubel, New Ulm, Minnesota, grandchildren - Cecile Wiley, April Alcock, Shae Edgerton, Keegan Edgerton, Joshua Ubel, Megan Ubel, great-grandchildren -Noah, Abby, Madison, Everett, Emma, Cooper and Carter, many Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by His parents Herbert and Clara Berndt, one brother LeRoy Berndt and five sisters Kathleen Stark, Clarice Trebesch, Evelyn O'Hearn, Eldora Mead and Charlet Meenen.
