Gladys Werner

Gladys Lucille Werner was born February 29, 1928, in Lyon County, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Mabel (Hauge) Mork. She grew up in Lake Sarah Township, Murray County and graduated from Tracy High School in 1945. Gladys attended Teacher's Training in Lamberton and taught school for one year before her marriage to Arthur Werner on June 8, 1947, at the Germantown E.U.B. Church. The couple farmed near Lamberton until retiring in 1983. Gladys was a member of the Lamberton United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School and served as Adult Bible Studies Leader for many years. She also was a UMW officer, the Witness Chairperson, and was honored as a UMW Woman of the Year. Gladys had served with the Germantown WSCS and was also a member of the Garden Club and the Senior Citizens. Gladys Lucille Werner died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 77 years. Survivors include son- Allan and wife Janice Werner of Sanborn; daughter- Linda Werner of Lamberton; grandchildren- Karen and husband Chad Beranek of Salem, SD, Brian Werner of Lamberton, and Susan Werner of Sanborn; and sister- Doris and husband Harold Sunheim of Maplewood, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband- Arthur in 1993.
