Gladys Charlotte Russenberger was born on October 22, 1915 in Stately Township, Brown County, the daughter of Perry and Cora (MacCabe) Peterson. She attended Country School District 61. Following her mother's death, Gladys helped at home. She was united in marriage to Edward H. Russenberger at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Springfield on November 23, 1939. The couple farmed in Charlestown Township northwest of Sanborn. Edward died in 1984 and Gladys moved to Sanborn in 1991. She was a former member of the Congregational Church in Comfrey and the EUB Church in Springfield. Gladys was a current member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. She participated in Ladies Aid, Jolly Times Home Extension Club and two card clubs. She enjoyed playing 500, Pinochle, dancing, gardening, flowers, baking, cooking, canning, and spending time with family. Gladys died on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Valley View Care Center at the age of 97 years. She is survived by her daughter - Clarice and husband Russell Johnson of Sanborn, MN; grandchildren - Harley Edd and Doreen Johnson of Sanborn, MN and Holly Jo and Richard Barber of Luverne, MN; and great grandchildren - Ashley Jo and Nicholas Barber. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward in 1984; and siblings - Alice Johnson Fred Peterson, Leslie Peterson, Ethel Lundblad and Hazel Fredin.
