Gladys Elizabeth Hoffmann, age 93, of Sleepy Eye, died on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at Divine Providence Community Home. Gladys was born November 4, 1916, in Sleepy Eye, to Joseph Emma (Hartneck) Krzmarzick. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. On April 21, 1941, she married Leo A. Hoffmann at St. Mary's Catholic Church. After marriage, they farmed in Sleepy Eye. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Margaret's Catholic Aid Society. Gladys lived on the farm until she was 92, when she became a resident of the Lake Villa Maria Apartments in Sleepy Eye. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, sewing quilts, reading, bingo, and word search puzzles. Gladys is survived by sons, James (Mary) of Springfield, Kenneth (Debra) of Windom; daughter, Darlene Bjerketvedt of Eden Prairie; daughter-in-law, Arlene Hoffmann of Eagan; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Michael) Carlson, Laurie (Mark) Czaplewski, Amy (Kristopher) Spong, Derrick Hoffmann, Chandra (David) Johnson, Brian (Paula) Bjerketvedt, Sarah (Jake) Vande Hey, Erik (Breanne) Bjerketvedt, Anthony Hoffmann, Brianne Hoffmann (fiance Matt Miller), and Daniel Hoffmann; 10 great grandchildren, Taylor Czaplewski, Sydney and Alexandra Carlson, Ben and Alice Spong, Seth and Ty Johnson, Simon and Quinn Bjerketvedt, and Leo Bjerketvedt; brother, Linus (Angeline) of Sleepy Eye; sister, Alyce Schumacher of Comfrey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 1979; son, Richard in 1995; brother, Sylvester; sisters, Martha Moldan, Agnes Kessler, Irene Utz; and a brother and sister in infancy.
